Item 1: Elaine Navar, Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office

The city will soon have an on demand ride share service ‘Trips for Transit’. Residents are encouraged to use the SLC Mobile App. Only 5% of District 2 households use it. You can use it to report broad range of issues, it can also be used to make service requests, and can be used to pay bills. Fireworks season is here, please adhere to city ordinance.

Item 2: Andrew Johnston –City Council District Two

We have about 50 new officers from academy this year which should include uniformed park rangers. CIT (crisis intervention training) is being pushed by Mike Brown, Chief of police to improve community-police relationships.

Thatcher Chemical Spill: 1,000 lb sulphur dioxide and not reported timeously. Councilmember Johnston is looking further into the incident.

WaterPark will not be open this year.

Item 3: Tammy Hunsaker Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency

Reported on 9-Line RDA area status. She will be the Project Manager and will keep us informed on new projects. Taxing entities or partners (Salt Lake City School District and Salt Lake County) now need to approve the area. Project types will include small business commercial development, affordable housing, community gardens, public art and other amenities.

Item 4:
Josh Wilson, Sorenson Unity Center Office Coordinator

Reminded people of the many activities and programs available at the center.

Item 5: Detective Oliver, Salt Lake City Police Department

Reiterated chemical spill procedures. Spoke about a crime rate drop. District 2 is down about 100 calls compared to this time last year.

Salt Lake City Police Department wants to encourage bike registration.

Item 6: Aimee Urbina –Utah Clean Energy

Light swop: up to 15 light bulbs can be exchanged for LED bulbs. Smart thermostats are available through UCE for $50. Rocky Mountain Power and Dominion Energy also offer rebates.
